For the Capetonians most of the rainy season is over, but up here in Gauteng and in nearby regions we can look forward to the lovely smell of summer rain. Many girls get (a bit) upset with the unexpected showers when they are dressed in a dainty summer dress and sandals and have to dodge water puddles, which may involve some jumping (not very lady-like) all topped off with a frizzy hair-do.
Where are we going with this? We are saying, be prepared. Expect the unexpected.
1. The Hair
Getting a bit of frizz on as soon as the first drops hit the earth? Experts say that well hydrated hair will not absorb moisture which might lessen the frizz. Condition your hair whenever you wash and make sure to treat your hair with a good mask on a weekly basis. Over-styling might contribute to dehydration, therefore be sure to use good heat protecting products. Consult your stylist for more.
In your emergency bag: Include some elastic band, a comb, hair serum, and a few hair pins. When the frizz hits, you can tie your hair and look lovely and sleek for your next appointment or after-work date.
2. The Clothes and Accessories
Keeping dry does not mean hide indoors. Always keep a cute umbrella in your car or bag . Look out for animal print, stripes and bright colours (to add to the colour-blocking trend).
Having something warm, even when the weather seems sunny, is always a good idea. Especially if you wont be home for the whole day.
In your emergency bag: Brave enough for a raincoat? These can also fold up very tiny and can be stored neatly in your office, handbag or car.
3. The Shoes
These are all the rage! Might look like gumboots to you, but, once you try them on you will see they are super comfy and very light and breathable made from only the best materials. To top it off , you cannot be seen without these, even in summer, as all celebs and style gurus cannot get enough of them.
Choose from different styles in the Hunter range: from pumps, to boots, in different styles and all colours possible. How convenient? Keeping dry and stylish.
In your emergency bag: Keep a pair of these handy to slip on as soon as you see any sign of rain.
