Reader Question: Breakfast Eating

Q: Excuse this perhaps stupid/silly question- but what I would like to know, till what time do you eat breakfast?

All the eating plans or diets indicate that it is very important to eat breakfast, but at what time? I wake up at 04:30, make ready for the day, leave 05:30 for the office. I do not feel to eat that time of the morning. I can only eat at about 08:30 - 09:00. Is this time still suffiecient for taking breakfast? Then it is usually a weet-bix or muesli and yogurt- it is seldom a solid "English breakfast"
Your advice is appreciated and awaited.

A: Many people have the same dilemma as you. The aim of breakfast is just as the word suggests- you must 'break' the overnight 'fast'. Remember that your body has been in a fasting state since the previous night's dinner, meaning that you have to kick start your body's metabolism again as soon as possible after you wake up with a healthy breakfast. Even a light breakfast might do the trick.
The reason we stress to eat breakfast is more about encouraging small and frequent meals then eating at a specific time. So for example, eating every 3 hours is encouraged to prevent hunger cravings from not eating often enough, and thus making you more likely to overeat. So perhaps you could focus on shifting your 3 hours to make your own routine eating schedule.
