Welcome. Ngiyakwemukela. Welkom.
Welcome to the Good Life Dietitians blog!
Allow us to introduce ourselves: We are a couple of fabulous girls who met while studying dietetics at the University of Pretoria, and our love for food and good living bound us to the start of a wonderful friendship.
Recently we voiced our opinions of the dire need for sound nutritional advice in the media. The age of technology has been revolutionary in giving people information at their finger tips, but with this has come a massive challenge to dietitians: incorrect and poor nutritional information and advice.
Not being ones to take this frustration lying down, the idea of a blog was born. Here, we aim to counteract nutritional misinformation and provide you with the truth from two qualified dietitians. We hope to use this blog as a springboard to launch sound nutritional advice into the lives of every South African. Also, we aim to show the world that there is more to dietitians then calorie counting, carbo loading, low GI gym bunnies. We will blog about our trials and tribulations in living the good life, bust food myths, advise on healthful eating, suggest easy and interesting recipes, introduce you to other good living young professionals, among other exciting posts.
We launch our blog on the eve of the final taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show. We find this fitting as Oprah is one of the frontrunners in spreading the message of good living across the world. Her much publicized troubles with her weight has been replaced in recent years with the simple yet powerful mindset of healthy living, regardless of waist size or the reading on a scale. She advocates healthy living in its entirety- body, mind and soul- a vision we strongly believe in, too.
With love,

could you please advise as to the calorie content of the alcoholic drink Vawter. Do you think it is a better option than low kilojoule white wine or gin and tonic?
